Julia
Founder & Lead Programmer

Favourite film | I haven’t seen it yet
Movie snack | A lolly bag packed by my Nana

Growing up and working in Ballarat’s video stores (Video Ezy, Movies Plus & Blockbuster), Julia has seen a lot of movies. Think of a lot of movies. Now think of more. Yep, even more than that.

Julia takes programming very seriously. She digs down deep into the well of cinema to select the best, the worst and the most unbelievable films out there.

Julia has experience across the Victorian arts scene, including Melbourne Fringe, Melbourne International Comedy Festival, Castlemaine State Festival, Darebin Arts Centre and IMAX Melbourne, and is thrilled to be launching TGC in her hometown, Ballarat.

I don’t see how a world that makes such wonderful things could be bad.

Travis
Best Boy & Researcher

Favourite film | Blade Runner (1982)
Movie snack | M&Ms (in groups of 4 only)

Born and raised in the ‘Rat, Travis loves to watch a movie and then watch it again. And again. Endlessly.

More human than human is our motto.

Freyja
Fixer & Producer

Favourite film | How can you choose a favourite movie? It’s like picking a favourite child… only harder.
Movie snack | A glass of red & a big tub of popcorn

Coming in bronze in our Ballarat-stakes, Freyja has only spent about 10 years of her life in Victoria’s third-biggest city (shut up Bendigo).

Since leaving the ‘Rat, Freyja’s worked all over the place, including Edinburgh Fringe, Sheffield Doc/Fest, London’s Secret Cinema, Brunswick Music Festival, and the Environmental Film Festival Australia. But Terribly Good Cinema is definitely her favourite.

Despite all the moving around, Freyja knows there’s no place like home. And that home is at the movies.

Come inside and have a nice cup of tea.
